WIND DEVELOPMENT ~ COLLATERAL DAMAGE

Not only are wind turbines responsible for killing countless numbers of bats and endangered bird species per year. It is also suspected that offshore wind farms are also responsible for the deaths of marine life. (link to story here) Recently the biggest wind farm in Aberdeenshire Scotland was shut down for four days after a farm animal was found dead. The cause of death has been described as unexplained but the previously healthy one-year-old bullock showed hemorrhaging around the heart, a possible sign of electrocution. (Link to story here) However, this was not the first time that wind turbines have been suspected to cause of death of livestock.
When a wind farm was built I on an island in the Taiwan Strait , farmer Kuo Jing-shan had about 700 goats.
Shortly after eight turbines were installed near his farm, Kuo Jing- Shan says his animals started to die.
"The goats looked skinny and they weren't eating. One night I went out to the farmhouse and the goats were all standing up; they weren't sleeping. "I didn't know why. If I had known, I would've done something to stop the dying," Kuo Jing- Shan said.
After 400 of Huo’s goats died, he blamed their deaths on the loud noise coming from the wind farms. He now has just 250 goats left
A local livestock inspector Lu Ming-Tseng, supported the farmer’s claim that his goats died of sleep deprivation.
Unusual sounds can affect an animal’s appetite, disturb how it grows, and make it lose shut-eye, all of which cause serious disruption to the animal’s health. Additionally
The Council of Agriculture also suspected that noise might have caused the goats' demise through lack of sleep.
The power company, Taipower, offered to pay for part of the costs of building a new farmhouse elsewhere.
Mr. Kuo said the power company had offered to help him move but that there would be no compensation for the loss of his goats.
"It's a pain to relocate, but what can I do. I can't survive with the wind turbines," he said.

A recent survey by a highly respected survey company revealed that Cape Vincent favors Goats to strengthen the economy and reduce taxes.
This is welcome news for the many hardworking citizens of Cape Vincent as well as many seasonal residents who have seen their community weakened by a slower and slower economy. As a matter of fact “Vacant Goats are selling like hotcakes.” “Prices are way, way, way, above assessed values.” “Goats are going wild on Wolfe Island.”

Goats will eliminate taxes and save the school. Cape Vincent kids are especially fond of them because they eat books.
