10:00AM today there was ceremony at Anchor Marina on East Broadway Street to welcome MetalCraft to our community.

Among those present were CIDA CEO Donald Alexander ,Glen Kennedy of the CVLDC, the Village of Cape Vincent Mayor, Town Supervisor Urban Hirschey and owner of Anchor Marina Ron Trottier.
Several state and Federal officials or their representatives were on hand to usher in a great new enterprise that has come to our community. Among those that attended were State Senator Patty Ritchie,County Legislator Michael E. Docteur,District Director for US Congressman Owens Steve Haul and North Country Director for US Senator Gillibrand Sue Merrill.

Tom Wroe MetalCraft Marine President spoke as did Michael Allen, General Manager and Bob Clark, Contracts manager.

(Please accept my apologies if I have forgotten to mention someone)
There were many speakers at this celebration and they all had the same message.

That this is one of the biggest things to ever happen in Cape Vincent resulting from a coordinated team effort and many long hours of work. This a wonderful opportunity for MetalCraft and the town to grow together. MetalCraft is coming to grow their business and in the process Cape Vincent has the opportunity grow and to once again be a strong vibrant community that it once was.
The possibilities that this opens up for Cape Vincent are significant.

And this was all accomplished without subsidies grants or promises of pilot payments.
additionally there were two MetalCraft boats at the marina for public viewing. and a demonstration .
MetalCraft has a booming business, just recently, the Port of Houston Authority commissioners voted to spend nearly $15 million, to replace three aging fireboats. Within the next 16 months, Cape Vincent, N.Y.-based MetalCraft Marine will be building these three high-tech fireboats. The first vessel is scheduled to arrive in Houston in a year. The boats are more than twice as fast as the port’s current fleet and discharge up to 15,000 gallons of water per minute, nearly four times the water cannon dis- charge rate of the boats in use now.

MetalCraft will make Anchor Marina its new home. Anchor Marina has all the right elements necessary to accommodate MetalCraft Marine’s new design and manufacturing facility. Some of these include the depth of the water and a facility large enough to suit their needs. Additionally, the Marina will continue to operate as a full service Marina. Renovations will begin immediately to accommodate offices and restrooms. The 10 employees from Metal craft’s Clayton facility will be given the option of moving with MetalCraft to Cape Vincent. Additionally they plan to ultimately add another 50 year round employees.

Holy Cow! You mean we are getting all those jobs without a PILOT? We are getting all those jobs without bribing town officials? We are getting all those jobs without ignoring town engineering consultants? We are getting all those jobs without fighting it out in court? We are getting all of those jobs without having to wear those silly green shirts and throwing really dumb pizza parties?

Holy Cow, how did Urban to that?

Thank you Mr. Hirschey for all your work in bringing this VERY APPROPRIATE business to the Cape. This shows our town can grow and offer long term employment to our residents without destroying the landscape and tourism industry.

look what Hirschey can do despite the opposition from the corrupt TB
