Cape Vincent Town Board meeting ~ concerning the replacement of Mickey Orvis

5:00 PM tonight the Cape Vincent Town board opened a special board meeting to interview prospective candidates to fill the board seat left vacant by the resignation of Mickey Orvis. The three candidates that submitted applications were Paul Aubertine, Michele Oswald and Edward Hludzenski. After interviewing the applicants the board re-convened at 6:00 Pm they stated that all three candidates were well qualified however they decided not to appoint anyone. Supervisor Hirschey stated that because all three applicants were running for Mickey Orvis' seat , and to be fair they decided to let the voters choose in November.

At the end of the meeting Democrat Chair Harold Wiley was given the courtesy of being allowed to speak.

Mr. Wiley expressed his dissatisfaction with the board’s decision ~ Wiley said that Paul Aubertine was a fine young man and traditionally when a board member has stepped down the board has chosen a replacement from the same political party.

So, if Harold is looking for a babysitter for his nephew, tray daycare.

Tradition, like when the Democrat controlled town board replaced Republican Mike Docteur in 2006 with an independent Cliff Schneider. Some tradition Democrats.

After the meeting Harold went after Brooks Bragdon with finger in face accusing Brooks of driving a wedge in the community. Darrel Aubertine and the wind company drove the wedge in this community. The secret deals and conflicts of interest.
And then Harold called us that registered to vote here unethical and immoral. Now, I get to vote against Harold's pick for November. Sweeeeet!!!!!

Please dont let a young person thats wants to get involved in the local process get involved we need to always be a retirement place to come and die . not where young families move and bring their children to live ahd keep our school open !

It was Harold Wiley's and Darrel Aubertine's tradition of ignoring the town code of ethics that got us into this mess to begin with.

Why not just appoint Aubertine to finish Mickey's full term

All 3 candidates are well qualified? Um, doesn't one of them have a conflict of interest?

Harold needs to find a candidate he likes without a conflict of interest.
The problem is that no such individual exists.
If you don't have a conflict of interest then WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU WANT WIND HERE?
