This comment came in to my blog this morning and I must say it covers in a nutshell the core problem destroying our community from within.
The Democrats presenting Paul Aubertine as the Democrat candidate and the belief by an element in our community that they are above laws, rules and ethics that govern a civilized society.
Dear Pandora, Please consider this a main post. Enough is enough with the bad wind ethics and the deplorable conduct of the Cape Vincent Democratic Party and Chairman Wiley. We are fed up!
Last night was the last straw after I read what Harold Wiley did. Who here can verify that Paul Aubertine has ever attended a town meeting or has ever been involved in any town committee? Paul Aubertine's only qualification is that he is the son of an Ag. Commish with wind leases and of questionable ethics who tried to hire his sister who married Harold Wiley's grandson who will make a little money from wind.
During his campaign, Senator Aubertine lied about his wind leases and failed to disclose the money he has been paid as a result of those leases. How much money went into his campaign chest from the wind lobby and is that money still in his campaign chest which I understand is still open. With Article X coming into play, this is no time for a wet behind the ears novice to be sitting on the town board. We need someone with experience and knowledge of the concepts of town government. Someone who understands the Village Town Comprehensive Plan and the Zoning Laws. I doubt Paul Aubertine has ever read them or know they exist. Paul Aubertine would serve only as a snitch who would feed Harold and Darrel with inside information that they could use to help Bp override our laws and crush our community. Paul Aubertine is the sister of Erin Churchill who also has a wind lease conflict of interest and serves on the School Board. Churchill is not the only wind lease conflicted member of a school board that at some point may vote on a PILOT. Dan Wiley, Harold's son along with voters for wind selected school board candidates and supported wind lease candidates with a purpose. Then they started using our school kids as human shields to justify their wind money. It made me sick to my stomach. So blatant. When it comes to ethics the Democratic committee has no shame and Harold has no concept of what even constitutes good ethics.
Harold Wiley completely ignored the democratic caucus and made Paul's appointment while locking out the rest of us Cape Vincent democrats.

Last year at the phony jackass caucus Darrell Aubertine, Harold Wiley and Jim Wiley pulled a slimy move. They announced that they forgot to file to get the Democrats on the ballot. That was just plain bullshit since Harold was sitting on Sean Hennessy's lap at the BOH nearly every day and counting and recording the rapid party changes and new registrations pouring into the BOH. Sean Hennessy was attending our local jackass fund raisers and was well aware of the bullshit. No way was the Jim Wiley, Harold Wiley and Darrell Aubertine failure to file for getting on the ballot a slip of memory. I believe they were purposely throwing our Dem party members under the bus in favor of voter for wind Gary King's conservative line which safety placed Donald Mason, Marty Mason and Harvey White all lease holders on the ballot and all choices of Aubertine and Harold and Jim Wiley and the lease holders.
What they have done to the Cape Democratic party is just plain bullshit.
Vote Republican until the jackasses get their act together.
Pre-empting the caucus and Paul Aubertine's early choice by Harold and his bullshit committee should no longer be tolerated.
Vote Republican all the way. Danny, do us a favor and change parties so we don't lose you, too.
Tell Harold, Jim and Marty to keep there bullshit away from the village so the village don't go down, too.
Wasn't there more towns then Cape that didn't get onto the ballot.I think Clayton was one and there was 1 or 2 more.Was that Harold's fault too.

Bullshit is an easy term even Jim, Harold and Darrel understand. The fix is in and Paul is the victim.
I hope a second Democrat decides to run just so that we can vote him/her in and start proving there are still Democrats out there with an ounce of moral fiber. Sorry Paul but you aren't much good on a board where you can't vote on important issues because of your conflict of interests. It makes no sense.

Don't look for another Democrat to run soon. Harold and Jim and Darrel will keep the caucus date secret. Then on the caucus date they will hold the meeting in a closet and put a big fat guy in the door way.
1:13 you didn't answer the question,wasn't there more towns than the Cape that didn't get on the ballot.I think I would be looking higher on the Dem. food chain and find out why.Again can you blame Harold for those towns.
If you think it was BS about other places not getting on,check you will find out it's not bull.
There were 3 Towns that did not file the paperwork in time Clayton, Cape & Wilna ~ Party officials in the three towns were supposed to notify the Jefferson County Board of Elections 10 days in advance that they’ll hold a caucus.
In Wilna, a fax from the party leader to county officials did not go through.
The Watertown Times reported that officials in Cape Vincent and Clayton did not make the deadline because the people who had been responsible for it had left their posts
I am not 1:13 but I will answer...I was watching it all go down.
Yes there were more towns. So what? We are talking about the Cape and the Cape only. Harold, Jim, and Darrell "forgetting" to file in case others showing up with a candidate looked mighty fishy since their boys were already on the Gary King Ballot. King and Wiley were working together to suppress the vote and telling people tall tales about voter fraud that never existed.
In the days before the caucus others were organizing the backing of another candidate. Harold, Jim and Darrel would not want that.
On the other hand if they did make an real mistake, that too is unforgivable of a political committee and they should all have stepped down.
Harold thinks people are dumb. They are not.

Your title says it all. Ethics provide the foundation in which a civilized society can exist. I have met very few here that have ethics let alone are civilized. And if you even attempt to reason with them they will tell you they like it that way. Most of them were bullies when they were kids and not much has changed. The best way to deal with them is give them a swift kick in the seat of their pants.
