BP is winding down its solar operations in favor of Biofuels

BP Alternative Energy is focusing on those sectors of the energy industry where we can profitably grow our business. This has led us to focus on wind and biofuels, businesses that are material, scalable, and suited to BP's core capabilities. We also invest in sustainable energy technologies to gain strategic insights on the advances occurring in this sector.

In keeping with this strategic focus, BP is winding down its solar operations.

I wonder how far Bp winding down?

During a Jefferson County Community college symposium by Assembly Members Addie Russell and Kevin Cahill, Russell said because of Article X it was not likely that we would get industrial wind in our area.

However Cahill and Russell did agree that they were both in favor of solar.

I aslo have been recently reminded that our governor is still very interested in New York State solar.

BP failed to capitalize on an important new advance in solar technology.
A new method for transforming chunks of raw silicon into large cubes of crystalline silicon. These large cubes can then be sliced into wafers to make solar cells.
This technology could have propelled BP into a position as a leader in the solar industry.
