So disappointing to see the names of people in this town that don't care about their neighbors. Very disheartening.

So - I count 44 different names on this petition. They got half of what they asked for....a vote of 3/4 of the town board in favor of the new zoning laws.

I do not see this petition addressing the Comprehensive Plan - so I guess they agree with the current revisions that continue to reflect the community beliefs going back to the early 1990's when the first long range planning was started.

Finally - how many of these concerned citizens attended ANY zoning committee meetings which were open to the public? How many of these concerned citizens spoke personally with any zoning committee members regarding their conerns? How many of these citizens wrote comments to the zoning law committee to express their concerns?

Based on my conversations with committee members, few, if any of these citizens had any contact with the committee. That means to me they ONLY CARE ABOUT THEMSELEVES!

VOTE IN NOVEMBER FOR TOWN BOARD CANDIDATES THAT WILL ADDRESS THE MAJORITY OF CAPE VINCENT CITIZENS....not the 44 people who put their names on a petition against a zoning law when they CHOSE not to participate in the process of creating it!

Remember....Gary King himself recommended that we put a couple of pro wind people, a couple of anti wind people and reps from the wind companies in a room and not let them out until a zoning law is written?

Where in our national or state constitution are local towns required to make international corporations part of the decision making process? There is NO such requirement!!!!

THINK ABOUT ALL THIS - VOTE IN NOVEMBER FOR CANDIDATES WHO WILL SUPPORT THE TOWN MAJORITY, not 20% of the landholders who want to control over 95% of the population!

Silly that leaseholders waited until after the plan and zoning law were adopted to present their petition to the board. Most of these signature were collected in June, why didn't they present this petition to the town board at the July 21 hearing?

The reason none of these people gave a damn about the zoning law is that they were ALL hoping that the law was as mean and nasty to commercial wind as it could possibly be. In fact they were probably cheering the efforts of Dave and Art, ban them baby, because the tougher the restrictions the better the chances our new law would be tossed by an Article X board. Yes, VFW and leaseholder all wanted tougher restrictions than the rest of us only because it would improve their chances of the State trashing home rule in our town.

Boo to all of you leaseholders. My bet is the new town zoning law will be upheld by the siting board, but will be rejected by BP as a deal killer.

Hey BP, quit pissing up a wind rope for Cape Vincent and build a solar farm on Burnt Rock Road.

There are 6800 people in the town.

44 landowners?

So you got .006% of the people who think they run the town.

Would that be an oligarchy?

I think all of those signatures should be notarized before anything moves forward. Anyone can sign those names. Shouldn't that be a requirement?

I want my money! I want my money, dammit!

Let's get of the topic of wind and straighten out the water district situation.

It was really a waste of time to have these landowners sign the petition.
After all, since BP controls a large percentage of CV land, BP Agent Chandler's signature would have served the same purpose.
It's a sad situation when one large corporation can veto local government.
BP could effectively replace our town and planning boards!

"It was really a waste of time"

Not really a waste. It was a warning to the Cape that if you elect pro-wind candidates and lose your super majority, you are toast.

A quick read of this petition, reveals that all of these signers also signed the petition to support an illegal voter ID law.

Big surprise eh?
