BP's BLOWS OFF CAPE VINCENT

The importance and relevance of this letter lies entirely in one sentence.

"I want to express our appreciation to the Board for taking the time to follow up on BP's plan to develop the Cape Vincent Wind Farm."

Read between the lines because it is absolutely critical to understand for the defense of our community and the game BP is playing on you.

The interpretation...Thanks for helping us along with our wind farm in the Art X process! It's a code the ART X board and the PSC will understand. The code is that they are fully complying with the PSC and the Art X process and have entered into a nice public dialouge with the town so they can demonstrate proper public involvement.

Every letter by the public or any town board, or it's officers just turns around and works against us by BP showing the PSC how engaged the public is over their project. Every letter and comment helps BP sucessfully complete it's PIP process.

Wake up...the public outreach is not about siting turbines or how bad or good BP's wind farm is. It is a hoop that helps BP AND the Art X board claim the stakeholders and parties involved were fully informed...as they go on and put up their turbines. It takes the PSC off the hook so they can't be blamed that the public was not aware of what was going on.

You can bet on it!!!

Mr. PUndt, where would we be at this moment had we followed your instructions? Would BP be licking their wounds in Houston? I don't think so. Would BP be moving ahead with Article 10 in spite of our ban and constitutional objections? Of course they would. What is going on now is foreplay. The proof of the pudding will be some time in the spring. I hope for all our sakes, yours included, that the town is right and that it prevails.

Your argument doesn't up. Since any alternatives were never explored or acted upon we have no way of knowing where we would be. But we do know this. With the town following the ArtX process with BP where are we now? BP is not in Houston licking it's wounds either and they are moving right ahead with Art X .

Kind of ironic you are absolutely cock sure my approach is wrong, yet hanging your and the town's approach on a HOPE.

BP's response is kind of like the TV show host who asks a question and gets someone to admit something crazy like they killed someone and then smiles and says, "That's interesting." No logical follow-up, just a vapid, robotic retort. Even HAL in the 2001 Space Odyssey had more smarts and more personality.

Dear Honorable Jacqueline Brilling,

If you have any insight whatsoever, you will recognize that BP has presented the sum total of its claimed community support for its wind project, in this single paragraph.

"In addition to funds aiding local government priorities, annual royalty payments in excess of $1 million will be paid to local landowners, once the wind farm is in commercial operation. This income will enable landowners to supplement their income and remain stewards of their land."

All other issues are irrelevant to these landowners, regardless of any propaganda that BP will spew forth.

Respectfully submitted,
The potential victims of this unabashed greed.
