Cape officials say water district expansion will benefit everybody

It seems some of the questionable decisions made by our former officials are coming back to bite us.

Why did the village decide to provide water to any of these "outside users" without acquiring the proper permits according to the DEC? Was this a village ,or town board decision ?

Was the logic of this decision based on the same mentality, that drove the formation, and subsequent illegal operation of District 2? Was the exposure of illegal hookups in water district 2 connected to this same DEC review ?

Seems our previous government never really embraced the concept of zoning, and its implications.

Presumably we adopt rules and procedures for land use, providing municipal water, etc. etc. for good reasons, some practical ,others to satisfy regulatory agency requirements.

If it proves the rules are overly restrictive or burdensome, there are procedures in place for revising or adjusting them.

It became standard procedure in Cape Vincent to either bend those rules or just completely ignore them. Well, that can only suffice for so long til, the light of day reveals the improprieties and injustices incurred upon the good citizens of the community, for the benefit of just a few.

The proposed solution to the problem of outside users of the village district sounds reasonable, legal, and would benefit all involved.

If the Mason's ,Edsall's or anyone else having a hissy fit with the town board would rather pay to be annexed into the village, hell let them do it , its their money they'd be throwing away ,just to satisfy their own personal vendetta against a new government.

As comedian Bill Engvall, says -"you can't fix stupid"

I did the math. For 350 village taxes at most 50 per year would be saved in water. But you would get trash pick up. Figure it out. But now. Masons have their home for sale. It was a rehab investment. How can they sell it quickly with annexation hanging over the potential buyers head? And, really why would they care if it is on the market.

9:14 "why would they care"?

they care because it's an opportunity for them to try to smear Supervisor Hirschey, and the new town board.

Their brother and cousin have been in the negative limelight for so long, they relish the chance to divert attention from the still unresolved illegal shenanigans with water district 2.

There's no way to absolve the shady actions of D and M Mason, so the next best thing is to try to make someone else look bad,in the hopes that people will forget what has transpired in the past.

Jim Mason was so puffed up and full of self-righteousness, he almost seemed like a cartoon character.

Incidentally, every Privilege of the Floor address at the board meeting was considerably longer than three minutes, or even five, and not a single cop was called in.

What the hell is going on in this town?
