Cape officials: wind contract holders’ comments should be separated

Marion Trieste was instrumental in the production of a 17 minute video titled "Wind Power New York",an unabashedly pro-industrial wind promotion sponsored by wind advocates, including AWEA.

Included in this video are numerous testimonials by local citizens and residents living nearby the turbines in Fenner, Madison Cty. Each one of the testimonials, which are almost laughable in the fact that they are so carefully scripted to counter the most frequently presented objections to wind turbines, are accompanied by a disclosure that the speaker does not receive any financial benefit from wind developer.

Its almost as if the video producers themselves recognized that the testimonials are so incredibly biased that anyone hearing them would immediately and naturally assume the speakers had been paid. Their attempt to afford some credibility by inserting the disclosures, only serves to create ,or increase the suspicion of an objective person.

Although one would like to think those reading the letters to the PSC could discern the obvious hint of rewarded bias inherent in the comments delivered from some of our well spoken leaseholders, we have to remember- we know who they are ,the PSC secretary does not.

I agree with the town, the comments from leaseholders should be advertised as paid for testimonials, much in the same spirit as VFW advertise their allegiance to their developer benefactors by parading around in public in green shirts.

Marion should have instructed each of the leaseholding letter writers to declare their status and vow in writing that their lease agreement has no bearing on their comments.

That way the PSC officials could see for themselves how full of shit, they(the leaseholders,) and Marion Trieste are.

The person bringing us the Bp community message has said during an online seminar that lawsuits are part of educating a community about wind development. The person referenced the lawsuit launched by "one of her favorite groups"Voters for Wind against the town of Lyme.

After the seminar, members of Voters for Wind and Citizens for Good Government filed a lawsuit against Cape Vincent Bloggers and other members of the community which were listed as John Does.

Because of the Voter for Wind and Citizens for Fair Government member legal assault against our community it is now likely that we will need to defend ourselves vigorously. We may need to counter those pro wind who attempt to deny us our civil rights, falsely accuse or promote false information that might cause future harm to victims of big industrial wind.

I believe lawsuits resulting from wind development takeover of our community will become part of life in Cape Vincent and Lyme for many years to come.
