I wish I may I wish I might....

At yesterday’s Town of Cape Vincent work session a resident suggested that the town should make a wish list concerning BP’s development, before the Article 10 board plows right over us.

Planning Board chair Richard Macsherry suggested to the resident that a solution to our problem would be for the leaseholders to unite and get their leases voided.

The latest chant of the pro- wind faction seems to be give up the fight before it’s too late.

Our boards have been doing a commendable job defending our community.

Now is not the time to willingly submit to BP’s rape of our community.

Thank you Mr. Mac
Spot on. How stupid do these people think we are that we would fall for what now appears to be a Marion Trieste Trojan Horse filled with voters for wind and Bp lawyers in the name of healing the community and regaining our local control over wind siting.

THE LEASEHOLDERS LOST THEIR LOCAL CONTROL WHEN THEY SIGNED THE LEASE.

"It's out of our hands now. The State has it."

That is exactly the talking point message that the leaseholders have been instructed to push.

Clearly, it is easier to slaughter your enemies when they have been lulled into a passive frame of mind. "The state will do what it will. So lets just back off with all the comments and letters from the town council, etc. Let's all give this a rest and start being nice to each other again."

That is the insidious message. It's a very weak and futile message, but it's really all they have left. Their attempts at substantive arguments were discredited long ago.

You know -- they really do think we're stupid. That's what's offensive.

And they accuse us of being bitter, spreading hate, and imparting ugliness.
Yes, thinking we are stupid is the worse insult.
That letter has voter for wind, community organizer, Bp written all over it.

The Voters for Wind leader ,Marion Trieste, would never allow the leaseholders and good neighbors to give up their leases. These leases represent the claim of "community support" that BP makes.

Janet Radley is a poor spokesperson for the Voters for Wind." Nobody likes Art.X" is for all intents and purpose, an outright deception on her part.

Without ART. X the leaseholders are left dealing with the Town Zoning Law.

If the town officials are good to their public declarations of not negotiating this law, the leaseholders basically have no promise of fortune at the expense of the rest of the town.

Art. X is the best chance the VFW have at this point.

Macsherry's proposal of a class action suit is a great idea, but it would presuppose the leaseholders are thinking of some greater good for the community. Not true!

The only way the leaseholders would agree to such an action is if the town gave some indication they would negotiate the town zoning law, and allow more turbines.

On this special day for love, passion and obsession might I suggest that Janet and other BP payees are head-over-heels in love with Article 10. Janet's idea that "no body loves Article 10" is utter nonsense.

BP and their leaseholders put all their eggs in the Art 10 basket last year. BP, Trieste and VFW had numerous opportunities to complain about our zoning law being to restrictive. Aside from a single letter from BP, there was not a single, critical comment that setbacks, noise or anything else was too restrictive. Where were the pro-wind voices screaming in outrage?

BP, Trieste and VFW's plan all along was to let us put into place a very restrictive law and thereby have it tossed by the Article 10 Siting Board for being unduly burdensome.

In retrospect BP, Trieste and VFW will regret not taking a more active role in reviewing the Comp Plan and zoning law, because the Cape's zoning law very likely may be judged reasonable for our set of circumstances and our community.

When the Town's attorney argues before the Siting Board that there was unanimous support for our Comp Plan and zoning law then we should see BP, Trieste and VFW suddenly realize they really screwed-up by not being more involved and critical during the hearings.

Bad call Marion.

"Janet Radley is a poor spokesperson for the Voters for Wind.'
You may think that is true, but I believe she is the best they got. The new guy entering the fray is blessed with a vast background of ignorance regarding what the voters for wind have done to this community the last many years. He is a good friend, but I don't think the poor guy has a clue.

Every time I think of the people who welcome Bp, support them and attend their meetings, a little vomit rises into my throat.

Did I hear Janet say that years back the Town came up with a wish list?

Holy Crap! Was that the list JLL described as including burying a electric cable, fixing a clock, buying some paint and putting a fence around a cemetery to keep the dead guys in?

I think this town board could do better, don't you think?

Who thinks leaseholders would consider giving up their leases under any conditions. Let's get real here.
The only thing leaseholders would even consider is to possibly have the rest of the town all get together and pay them what BP is promising every year.

I would laugh except it is true. Oh you missed the part about planting some 60 foot trees to cover up the 400 ft. windmills.

BP never intended to comply with the Cape Vincent Zoning Law. All they did was apply and drag their feet until the state set up a process that they paid dearly for and like. BP has negotiated good-neighbor agreements for several years. Those agreements are not legal or binding under the Town Zoning Law. In other words a developer and another party have no authority to ignore things such as setbacks or noise limits - proof that they never intended to work with the Town Law.

A wish list presents a perfect opportunity for the Town Board. I suggest the following wording:

Dear BP, VFW, and anyone else who gives a rip:
We wish we had never heard of big wind development so pack up and leave the north country.
Disrespectfully submitted,
Town officials and the 96.1% of us that oppose big wind.
