Wolfe Island wind turbines deadly for birds, bats

“Shockingly high” numbers of bird and bat deaths caused by one of Canada’s biggest wind farms should serve as a warning to planners of other projects that may be built in crucial wildlife zones, one of the country’s key conservation groups says.

The Wolfe Island fatality rate was about seven birds per turbine over the six-month period. Studies across North America show rates generally ranging from about 0.5 to about eight per year, but there is no number that is consider "normal."

Wolfe Island is an internationally recognized "important bird area," or IBA, for raptors - birds of prey such as owls and hawks that hunt for small mammals to eat.

A voter for wind told the Cape Vincent Wind Turbine Economic Impact Committee that she had visited Wolfe Island and that bird kills were not a problem. She said the head honcho told her that they shut them down during the migration.

This is why Bp, their community organizer and local voters for wind should be treated with skepticism.

That statement was made and presented as a fact by the voter for wind woman who is a plaintiff in what appears to be a Bp-Trieste-Voter for wind lawsuit against the Cape Bloggers and community members who expressed their opinions on those blogs. Again thank you to the blogs for telling the truth about wind development and how Marion Triest has been able to manipulate and guide these people into be Bp professional solders against our community.

If I remember correctly ,I do not think that the woman who said this is a plaintiff in the blogger lawsuit.

7:59...you don't remember correctly. I do!...you have the actual person confused with the goat business lady whose MO seems to be to accuse the CV government of being outsiders.

I assure you that one of the green shirts Marion Trieste best friend is a member of the lawsuit. I was at that meeting when the false claim was made. I got notes...It was one of the only times VFW started to attend during the second round. It was not the goat lady who made the declaration. about the TransAlta head honcho. And if needed I will testify under oath in court that she made that incredible statement. .What will be interesting in all this is what she and her husband have to say under oath in any countersuits against the plaintiffs regarding their knowledge of the Bp community organizer information program that presented these kinds of fabrications. The bloggers are being accused of causing two very bad public officials of being deprived of their public office. I think the lady making what I think are the false claim against the bloggers has some explaining to do....and along with others might have to be punished for their frivolous actions ....but then, they may have been encouraged by the former PB chair who do not attach his name to the suit. Was it because of his own history in the town?
As far as I am concerned, their friend Save a Business can go suck an egg.....

Without wind Cape could have be a place to relax for both locals and seasonals. But now it is a place where the next car driving up your driveway might be a process server. Hell, they should open and office in the Cape. Move here and send their kids to the school.

I think some of this is about Marion and her green shirts depriving the majority of Cape Vincent of their civil rights.....right to vote without intimidation and freedom of speech.....

The original comment was made by Karen Stumpf, and she is not a plaintiff in the blogger lawsuit, just a cheerleader! Probably came up with the statement in consultation with Marion Trieste over a lunch of goat stew.

Carol Merchant almost decked Marion Trieste in Three Mile Bay, for saying that cats kill as many birds as turbines. It was fun to see and hear Marion duck around that one.

When is the trial? And how can all of us who have witnessed bad behavior of bp, trieste and VFW present our testimonies regarding what we believe is lack of character in regard to their wind farm support and how they did unethical government.? I think they did bad things to a lot of people and even family members. I believe many people will support the anti wind community at the trial. In order to be defamed, you have to have some kind of good character or standing in the community to begin with don't you?
