A letter to the Public Service Commission ~ I ask that each of you visit the websites of the two anti-wind blog spots I have listed below, that have effectively suppressed support for the wind farm project which many of us strongly believe is desperately needed in Cape Vincent.

Re: BP Cape Vincent Wind Power Project (Case No. 12-F-0410)

It is rather striking to see that a vast majority of the public comments submitted to the PSC’s website regarding the proposed Cape Vincent wind farm project are against the siting of commercial wind power electric generating facility in our community. There is an explanation as to why the comments submitted against the project far exceed those in favor.

It is a well-established fact in our community that anyone who submits comments to the PSC’s website expressing their support for the project is immediately subjected to character assassination and personal attacks which are posted on two local anti-wind blog spots in our community. I strongly urge the members of the Siting Board to “take time to see for yourselves that these claims do in fact have merit.

There are many individuals and businesses in this community who are supportive of the project but will not publicly acknowledge that support for fear they too will be subjected to ridicule and attacks upon their character and personal integrity. Businesses in this community who have voiced their support of the project have seen their sales decline as a direct result of being boycotted by those in opposition. One business has already closed its doors.

I ask that each of you visit the websites of the two anti-wind blog spots I have listed below, that have effectively suppressed support for the wind farm project which many of us strongly believe is desperately needed in Cape Vincent.

Website addresses: www.jeffersonleaningleft.blogspot.com

                               www.pandorasboxofrocks.blogspot.com

The majority of the comments supporting the project come from residents of Cape Vincent whereas comments in opposition come not only from within the community but also from many other areas of New York State.

Two of the nominees selected as potential candidates to represent our community on the Siting Board, have themselves posted comments on the PSC’s website opposing development of a wind farm in Cape Vincent. The nominees to whom I am referring are Mr. Thomas E. Brown and Ms. Donna Essegian. Neither of these individuals should be considered qualified nominees to participate in the review process. Their undeniable opposition to the proposed wind farm project clearly indicates that they cannot make the assertion that they would be able to impartially represent the entire community on this issue. It is known by “all” that the Cape

Vincent Town Board which was elected by the anti-wind faction, is opposed to the project and is attempting to “stack the deck” in their favor by submitting the names of individuals whom they are well aware adamantly oppose the development of BP’s wind farm project.

Sincerely;
Cory J. White
Cape Vincent, NY

Now you know why I support the Cape Vincent Bloggers and encourage them to take legal counter action as part of the defense of our community against those in the pro wind faction who have continued to publicly harass and humiliate those who are telling the truth.

Bottom line, if you don't have a wind lease you have a conflict of interest.

Mr. White has made some very strong charges against the blogs and those of us who have made comments. The anti wind faction has challenged the pro wind, not on a personal basis but on the conduct, procedures and ethics of how Bp and the community organizer gains a foothold in the community.
But I really do hope the PSC comes to visit your blog and read the truth about a community being torn by industrial wind and attacked by Bp "outreach".
Anti wind have challenged industrial wind itself as have the rest of the world. The industrial wind model is the same around the world and in Italy instead of a company organizer and a Voters for Wind type group delivering the message to the community it was the Mafia.
Facts:
Two town board members stated publicly that the NY Attorney General's Code of Ethics was a waste of time.
The government was corrupted by wind lease holding public officials and the citizens of Cape Vincent exercised their democratic right to eliminate them by elections which have been certified by the BOE.
The AG launched an investigation and still has not announced the findings.
The planning board Chair was a leaseholder and held a secret meeting, got caught on video and sound and then lied about town business being conducted.
Pro wind passed a petition claiming voter irregularities, passed an illegal voter law and sent letters to assessors that to me seem to have the purpose of voter intimidation.
And, honorable PSC members, that is only the beginning of the horrible stories of a community being raped by, in my opinion, one of the biggest and baddest of foreign corporations, British Petroleum.
And, I think the prejudice that Voters for Wind have instilled against the community is deplorable. And if somebody in Cape Vincent gets hurt by pro wind, it will be tried as a hate crime.

11:40 and members of the PSC and citizens of the Thousand Islands.

In the realm of public service a conflict of interest means "financial conflict of interest" which is a no-no recently held up in the SCOTUS regarding a Nevada Town official who voted to approve a project that his partner was getting paid for.

Mr. Brown and Ms. Essegian are not being paid by anyone in return for their willingness to serve Lyme and Cape Vincent town and their majority opinion.

Opinion is not conflict of interest regarding public service ethics codes. All people serving the public have a right to opinion. Having personal opinion about a contentious issue, personal or of peers is not a violation of the public trust. Mr. White might not be happy with the opinion it but that is the way democracy works.

Thank you Mr. White for sharing the links with me and encouraging the honorable members of the PSC to delve into the local issues by reading these excellent local blogs.

"anti-wind faction" ???

Interesting use of the word "faction."

So what we have in Cape Vincent is government by a faction? Is it not a duly constituted body of elected officials who all brought their positions on the issues before the public and were selected by the people over those whose positions most of the public disagreed with?

White, Jolliff and others can continue to twist the language and the facts all they like -- even to the point of claiming the public has become an illegitimate public.

But when they open up to make such claims all they do is harden the resolve of those whom they insult in the process.

How embarassing for Cory.

The first mistake he made is that J. Brilling is long gone.

The only faction I see here is pro wind itself. 4.9 percent of the town are leaseholders...cory and maggie fall into that.
Hey, by the way, at the legion I was told the blogs were going to be shut down....WTF?

Dear Cory and members of the PSC.
Wind in the Cape is a very public issue. Instead of whining like a little calf about to become veal I would suggest that you tell us exactly how I am going to recover 50,00o dollars in loss from my homes exposure to your turbines.

Thanks Ms. White for the links to Pandora. I have followed the world wide issue of industrial wind development for years trying to make sense of it all. I have published research, political reviews and scientific data. In my frustration, I have come to one conclusion. Those who support the fallacy of industrial wind should be told (politely, of course) to go Fu@% themselves.

830 ertoppl"of those whom they insult in the process."

In saying that, I assume you have had the pleasure to have sat in the front row of one of Mr. Edsall's PB meetings while Voters for Wind were mumbling obsencities in thre back.

We all know that Cory did write that letter by himself. Just saying.

Good. I though Bev or Mike might have done it and that Cory says he done it. Glad that the PSC is seeing for themselves how the Brits have destoyed our home.

Having read the Article 10 rules regarding the selection of nominees for the Ad Hoc members of the Siting Board I saw nothing that disqualifies Mr. Brown or Ms. Essegian from serving because they have an opinion on the issue of industrial wind.

I dare say Mr. White would not have complained if Supervisor Hirschey has nominated four pro-wind advocates.

What Brown and Essegian have in common is that they both support the local laws for the Towns of Lyme and Cape Vincent. They both support home rule and they both support local communities choosing their destiny, rather than State bureaucrats.

Mr. White may not like Mr. Brown or Ms. Essegian's opinions or views, but we are grateful they decided to serve their communities and to defend our plans and laws.

We should all thank them.

I BELIEVE IT! J. Brilling has been gone from the PSC now for months now. Get with the program.

Cory you said,

"The majority of the comments supporting the project come from residents of Cape Vincent.."

Not true Cory count them. WTF? Do you think the PSC came down with yesterday's tax dollar?

Cape and Clayton industrial wind is a regional AND A STATE CONCERN. The Thousand Islands is a very important region as well as the Golden Crescent. Please have a little respect for the honorable members of the New York

State public service commission.

Cory these are not personal attacks they are attacks on you wind position which we think in drop dead wrong.
As for the PSC asking them to follow the bogs is the best you done.

Anonymous said...

Actually, Ms. White is correct. The majority of the comments supporting did come from Cape Vincent. But, Ms. White did not mention that there are far more comments from Cape Vincent opposed to the project.
Support runs about 5 to 6% at this point and appears to be mostly lease holders or people being paid by Bp for good neighbor services.

CORY,
YOU FORGOT TO MENTION IN YOUR LETTER THAT YOUR RELATIVES HAVE WIND CONTRACTS AND ARE GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF WAITING AND WAITING FOR THESE 500 FOOT PLUS INDUSTRIAL SIZE WINDMILLS TO BE BUILT, SO THAT THEY CAN START ROLLING IN THE DOUGH !!!! OH, ANOTHER THING IS THAT YOU AND YOUR PRO WIND BUDDIES DON'T BOTHER USING THE INTERNET TO TRY AND INTIMIDATE ANTI-WIND CITIZENS OF THIS TOWN...... THEY SIMPLY GO OUT AND THREATEN AND INTIMIDATE THEM FACE TO FACE. AS YOU FULLY WELL KNOW, THEY DON'T GO OUT ALONE TO DO THIS, THEY GO IN GROUPS. I THINK YOU SHOULD DO ANOTHER DRAFT TO THE PSC AND INCLUDE YOUR SELECTIVE MEMORY LOSS INFO THAT YOU JUST GOT REMINDED OF.
CORY YOU JUST DON'T GET IT, WE DON'T DISLIKE YOU OR YOUR PRO WIND FRIENDS....... WE JUST DON'T WANT WIND IN OUR BACK YARDS FOR A HOST OF REASONS WHICH I WON'T LIST BECAUSE WE HAVE TOLD YOU FOLKS MANY TIMES OVER !!!!!
IT MUST BE A TERRIBLE THING TO BE SO BLINDED BY THE MONEY THAT YOU JUST CAN'T SEE THE MANY HAZARDS THAT THESE WINDMILLS WILL IMPOSE ON THE WHOLE COMMUNITY....
I SUSPOSE THAT ONCE YOU SIGN A BP CONTRACT YOU CAN'T GO BACK, MY CONDOLENCE!!!!!!!

Apologies to Mr. White I previously referred to as Mr. I learned that after having made another CV contact. I have learned that CV is suffering from the same community divisions caused by industrial wind in other communities I have studied and written about.

Don't kid yourselves, this letter was not written by Cory White, the only "faction" he would be familiar with is the rock band.

Incidentally to whoever did pen this letter, a faction is described as follows from Wikopedia-
Faction or factionalism may refer to:

Political faction, a group of people connected by a shared belief or opinion within a larger group.

You claim the local anti-wind movement elected the current town board, and that the policies and actions of this board do not reflect the community beliefs.

you can't have it both ways. The anti-wind movement cannot be a mere minority faction, if it embodies enough support to control the electoral process, and thus define the political nature of the town's leadership.

You, and the Voters for Wind ,my friend are indeed the minority faction, and reflect only a mere "fraction" of the beliefs and opinions held by all the legitimate voters and residents of Cape Vincent.

This is political reality. A hard pill to swallow for the old guard, and obviously you, since you continue to deny it. Show me where the word "impartial" is ever used in politics or government. That's the whole point of politics. Who would take the time and energy to promote anyone who was impartial on an important issue?

Having an opinion or position on an issue is not the same as having illegal bias, or a conflict of interest, nor does it prevent someone from being objective.
