BP's ~ SPIP ~ Stealth Public Involvement Plan

August 31, 2011 just before the Republican Primary there was a “Clean Energy” educational forum held at Rec Park, Cape Vincent . It was presented by the New York Wind Education Collaborative, a conglomeration of the Alliance for Clean Energy New York (ACE), Albany and Citizens Campaign for the Environment (CCCE), the CCCE is an offshoot coalition derived from Marion Trieste’s public education campaign.

The forum was hosted by Carol Murphy, the Executive Director of the Alliance for Clean Energy. She opened the Forum by briefly introducing the participants and she also described the Forum as fact-based, and stated that they were not advocating for or against an individual project.

“We came to offer the latest scientific information to people — it’s all out there for people to look at,” “But people won’t believe it if they don’t want to believe it.”Said Murphy

The presenters at this forum claimed that the collaborative goal was to increase the public’s understanding of wind power issues, in the belief that a better-informed public can participate more meaningfully in the environmental review process and other public discussions surrounding proposed wind facilities.

One of the presenters, an economics professor from San Diego University defend a study that supported the idea that Wind Turbines do not impact property values.

He said that all the studies find the exact same thing declaring, “You cannot say there’s an impact.

Additionally, he said that the results of the McCann Appraisal tailored to the unique characteristics of Cape Vincent were laughable.

What is laughable is that we were supposed to believe that this "Educational Forum" provided us with independent unbiased information, when in fact a secretary working for British Petroleum made the arrangements and paid for the use of the Rec Park facility where their so-called independent "Educational Forum" was given.

September 17, 2012 When BP submitted their  Public Involvement Plan (PIP) to the Public Service Commission, BP documented their involvement with our community by submitting a list of Wind Energy Forums held in our community by both Acciona BP. One of the Forum’s listed was the Wind Energy Collaborative that was held August 31, 2011.   When this particular forum was presented to our community it was promoted as an independent forum and not connected to BP.
However, things suddenly changed when BP needed to show that they have been involved with our community. Now, BP claims ownership of the Forum as part of their Public Involvement Plan.
Below is a letter that I received from the Town of Cape Vincent Town Clerk through a FOIL request.

Carol Murphy is gone. She is out of the NYS Albany wind propaganda wind business. Like Bode at the national level wind they bailed when they knew the jig was up.

Here is why I think Voters for Wind are a group of radicals that should be taken seriously as a threat to your town and its citizens:

Voters for Wind have been identified by a foreign corporation as a group that is working locally in your Town of Cape Vincent for them and now are denying that they have been supported by BP.

Voters for Wind tried to take away the right of local taxing jurisdictions to vote on JCIDA PILOTs.

Voters for Wind wrote letters that claimed local politicians who replaced their wind corrupt politicians were elected by a minority even though those elections were legal and certified.

Voters for Wind joined a foreign corporation in attempting to overthrow a duly elected town superviosr who was exercising his democratic and legal right to release a FOIL that demonstrated that others were colluding with a foreign corporation and the Voter for Wind planning board chairman's group was not taking the advice of their own sound experts.

Voters for Wind signed a petition falsely claiming that there were irregularities in past elections that were certified.

A Voter for Wind officer co-signed letters to out of town assessors that intimidated citizens who exercised their right to vote in your town of Cape Vincent.

Voters for Wind supported two town board members who proposed and passed an illegal voter resolution with a trumped up excuse of phony voter fraud. When the AG said it was illegal the two Voter for Wind supported board members still voted to support it.

Voters for Wind members filed what most people believe was a SLAPP suit intended to prevent bloggers and members of the community from their right of free speech on a contentious community issue that deserved open community debate. SLAPP suits are intended to scare people out of their right to their opinion.

Voters for Wind on many occasions promotes hate toward a group of American citizens who, in a derogatory manner, they refer to as outsiders, part timers, seasonals. They have even falsely claimed that those people have taken away their home rule when they have the same right to vote as voters for wind.

Voters for Wind have constantly endorsed candidates and public officials with conflicts interest with wind developers even though the SCOTUS has continued to rule that conflicts of interest are a threat to democratic government.

The above activites are un-American and un-Democratic.

DO NOT ALLOW DARRELL AUBERTINE, THE DEMOCRATS AND THE CFFG "TAKE BACK THE CAPE" AND GIVE IT TO BRITISH PETROLEUM.

Ad to that another un-American subversive action that Voters for Wind done. They support the loss of home rule in wind energy siting matters even at the expense of loss of health, welfare and safety of the majority of the citizens. Group like this should be watched very carefully. Because, taking away home rule and giving it to a big foreign multi national is fascism. We are all in favor of non-fascism, right?

Maz has a tuff job dealing with what she herself described as a Little Appalachia. I am not sure how well the Voters for Wind have followed her Bp financed playbook. Much of what Voters for Wind have done under her guidance sometimes looks like buffoonery. Just the same, experts don't come cheap. Thousands of dollars per day for local appearances even bad expeerts is not unusual and the Voters for Wind have received many, many days of her services for free. I think that is the same as taking money from BP.

10:14 One minor correction. The two town board members who proposed and voted for an illegal voter resolution, were not only supported by Voters for Wind, they actually were Voters for Wind?

Not an insignificant point.
