We have to give credit where credit is due - Pam McDowell. Consider the fact that the fourth largest corporation in the world is knocking at the door of Cape Vincent with a developmental project that is so very controversial. The major newspaper of the north country has sat on its haunches with the rumors that BP is divesting itself of the Cape and other wind development projects. Yet, an energetic reporter form a small local paper shows the initiative to go after a news story that is important to all of us, while the big paper sits back and yawns. Well, here is one guy who says thank you very much Pam McDowell for helping us by getting an interview with a BP representative. Keep up the great work, we appreciate all you do for us.

The operative word in this article is divest. The definition in Wikipedia is:

"In finance and economics, divestment or divestiture is the reduction of some kind of asset for financial, ethical, or political objectives or sale of an existing business by a firm. A divestment is the opposite of an investment."

Divest is not the same as sell. Divest is more like rid, dump or pull the plug. I think more is needed from BP to better understand what they mean by divest.
