As long as he supports bp wind, who cares?

What was the sheriff doing checking a truck? Was it on the side of the road? Was it in the middle of the road? What prompted the sheriff to check the truck? Do police check every truck they see traveling along a road? Again, why was the Illinois man checked? Who was the Cape judge who heard the case? Were other factors involved that were dropped by the judge? What did the arresting officer's report describe? Why would any normal twenty year old swipe a sign that said Wilson Point Road? Was he almost finished with the alphabet in road signs and got caught near the end working his way up to the 'W's?

All of this is a bunch of baloney if it were not for the fact that the Illinois man is running for town office in Cape Vincent. I might have voted for him except he showed very poor judgment. Why a sign titled: Wilson Point Road. I'm disappointed he wasn't more creative.

I had a campaign discussion with Jeremy. I was a bit concerned about some of the things he was claiming about his personal experiences as well as his perception of the running of the town. We don't need a train wreck sitting on the town board.

Yup!

Do we need all those security measures at the town building to protect us against the CFG-Democratic candidates.

Ha, ha! You got that right. No wonder he expects our taxes to double, sounds like he will be stealing all the town road signs.

Yup,Yup,Yup

Stealing road signs is just a normal part of growing up in Little Appalachia. It is an exercise in getting away with stuff. Getting arrested prepares you for defending things like the Bp project and door to door and bar to bar campaigning.

Hell, if Jeremy were to continue to steal road signs I wish he'd get rid of all those miscellaneous attached signs like 'Zoning Strictly Enforced,' 'No Door-to-Door Peddling' and 'Keep Your Dog and Your Husband on a Leash.' Although, maybe we should make an exception to the last one.

Yup!

For awhile Jeramy had a "Have you had enough, yet" sign in front of his rented home. It's gone. Did someone steal it?

Wood as in Wood Farms a benefactor of the bp wind farm.

The guy says our taxes will double. He does not even understand that assessments (which may have doubled because our assessments had not been updated in many years) are not taxes. Tax rates, not assessments, are the key to what your tax bill will be. The pro-wind minority could have done a much better job of finding someone to represent them. Think about it, he is a Wood and probably the only Wood ever allowed to cross party lines to mine information for the disorganized, misdirected, backward thinking local BP/VFW/CFG/Democrat committee. Don't be surprised if he and Grant are endorsed by the Dems.

The ultimate score would be to steal the new security cameras from the town building. The cfg thinks they are a waste of money and a bad thing by the town board.

When you read the nostalgic letter Mr. Wood submitted to the WDTs, it is completely understandable that he would steal a road sign from Wilson Bay,to have as a keepsake and reminder of his precious youthful hometown.

If he was seeking office in an effort to preserve the Cape Vincent/1000 Islands heritage, that he professes to love, from the ravages of industrial wind turbines, this little youthful indiscretion could have been a campaign booster, one of those intangibles people would merely smile at.

As it is, it simply serves to further confuse the voters minds,as to Mr. Wood's political intentions. Being a strong promoter of an industry that would completely alter the character of a region that he professes to cherish ,enough to return to, makes his message ring quite hollow.

Leaves one to wonder-is his level of intelligence on a par with the rest of the CFG/voters for wind? Is personal profit more important than his nostalgia for his hometown?

Is this what they call a youthful indiscretion? I would hate to think I'd be held accountable for every thing I did when I was twenty. When I was twenty I was serving my country and I did some questionable things to blow off a little steam.

At the time I wish I could have been back home stealing signs, drinking, fighting, carousing, and having fun like all the local guys did back home.

But, what steam did they have to release if they were on the farm where it was safe and they didn't have to serve? I wouldn't think they had any troubles and all the road signs and women were safe.

Maybe the Illinois man would have been better off wearing a uniform and channeling a little of his youthful, risky behavior toward an enemy of America instead of toward a road sign.

Maybe he sees all those turbines serving his family and friends as nothing more than another dirty trick on the town. By the way, he is also deceiving the town by claiming wind is done and over. So is his CFG buddy running against the supervisor. If they are that ignorant of what is actually going on or that deceptive about the truth, they have no business sitting in a position of public trust.

OH! NO, SAY IT ISN'T SO MR. BILL!!!
SEE WHAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN YOU QUIT OR GET TOSSED OUT OF SCHOOL WHEN YOUR ONLY A FRESHMAN !!!!

He's an outsider because he left the area for some time. That still weighs heavily in the minds of a few. Without them he will have trouble finding votes from those who never knew of him, still don't and, hopefully, never will.

Part of the security problem may have been the anger CFG-Dem-bp supporters were bringing into the building.

An Illinois Man! You mean Jeremy doesn't have a Cape Vincent driver’s license to show when he votes and I thought you had to be a local resident to run for office. Also doesn't the law state that you must change your driver’s license within 30 days of moving. Sounds like he may have broken a few laws!
Just what we need on the town board, a kid who couldn't hack school and steals signs for fun, allegedly of course.
The paper states Jeremy’s age as 20, yet in the letter he wrote in the Watertown paper he states he spent the last seven years managing a large contracting firm in Florida. How old was he when got the job 13?
Jeremy should tell the voters the name of this large contracting firm so we can check out what he considers to be “large” and so we can better assess his level of experience.
I guess it goes without saying that this young man needs to grow up a little before we afford him the opportunity to handle our town’s future.

Is this the BEST they could come up with??? These two are laughable at best.

Would the CFG candidates please stop lying about A-10 and the status of wind development in Cape Vincent.

8:38 "How old was he"?

You misread the article-Jeremy was 20 when he stole the sign.

Not really a case here for character assassination. How many college students pilfered road signs, or other memorabilia to display in their dorm rooms, and then went on to be successful doctors, lawyers, teachers, elected representatives, etc. etc.

Most of us consider youthful indiscretions as an integral part of growing up, rebelling at authority, strutting our independence. Who among us doesn't have a similar story.

Lets demand an accounting of his positions on important issues from Jeremy as he exercises his right to run for office, but lets not villify him for an insignificant action as a rebellious, stupid kid.

"lets not villify him for an insignificant action as a rebellious, stupid kid"

I agree except that not everyone steals property. But, I do know him and have talked with him. He does get very angry when pinned down about his understanding of the CFG-Democratic movement in their attempt to support their wind. And, he has said that wind is over and the TB has nothing to say. That is not true and at this time, he is not ready.
Also, the CFG has been telling the JB story, the Bragdon druggie lies and the lie about voter fraud.
In fact it has been a crucial part of their campaign for lack of other substance. So therefore CFG-Dem candidates have better be prepared to take their lumps on past indiscretions of candidates and their leaders. Political turn about is not only fair play, it is to be expected.

"Who among us doesn't have a similar story."
I certainly don't and I don't know of many who did. I was brought up damn poor in the Cape and did not have the privilege that this guy did. I went to college, got a couple of degrees and then got drafted.
Weak excuse for a guy who still does not demonstrate the maturity and civic concepts that we expect of civil servants in the public trust.
