Cape Vincent Zoning Board changes interpretation of solar panel rules to OK supervisor’s project

CAPE VINCENT — The town Zoning Board of Appeals changed its interpretation of zoning rules for residential solar arrays this past fall, a move that later allowed Supervisor Urban C. Hirschey to get a special-use permit for a ground-mounted system to be installed this spring at his Tibbets Point Road property.

So his gang will let him ride shot gun over his ways. He can do as he pleases because his boys said so. What other things will they change to do their nasty deeds. Laws are not made to follow, but to change to suit your needs. "HAD ENOUGH YET"? I'm sure you won't print this, but the truth is out there and people will see the real truth about these people.

There is no surprise here. The ZBA and Planning Boards would have looked like even bigger fools than they already are, if they had refused Hirschey's request for a variance, after allowing Roger Alexanders illegal permit to stand.

If they want unlimited solar development they should wait until the law is revised. At least then their decisions could stand up to a legal sniff test.

Hirshey says- no special favors for him. No fear of that Mr. Sup., this board has shown a willingness to bend and distort the law for anyone.

Once again, Cape officials shoot themselves in the foot. You'd think there wouldn't be any more feet to shoot. If you keep taking hits to the feet, you may begin to hobble.

Had Enough Yet?

Remember, Hirschey is the ultimate outsider which is what all the leaders now is. Work hard to keep outsiders from voting and make sure they don't tell our town what to do. So no to the drive bys. Is Art Punt here. I don't know Art, but I agree with him and Dave Lamora and Hester on all this stuff. She is the only honest one.

I have a great idea for healing Cape Vincent. Start a farmers market in chaumont to compete with their businesses. What a joke. What idiot came up with that? Our businesses need all they can get in the winter without a market to take it away from them and to get cape people to go to chaumont to shop.

Looks like someone just got pushed under the bus. How does it feel Art, Dave, and Hester.

They have been pushing others under the bus for years. I do not believe they are to be trusted and I believe they will only be happy with failure by the people in the community who actually get things done.

Don't worry. So what do you have here? 3 people joining the pro wind in trying to discredit the Hirschey gov and any who support their efforts just because they lost on one issue of little significance to any but themselves? Life goes on and they have been left behind. Thrown under the bus? I am not sure they have ever been on the bus. Just don't trust them...

This is in response to the farmers market comment .... First of I am appalled at this community. I just moved back to the area after 13 years, I don't know what has happened in the time I have been gone but I don't remember all the negativity and cut throat comments that are being made toward one another and businesses ... I remember a tight knit community that would come together... That is no longer. As far as the farmers market no vendors would participate if it was held here because they said no one would come maybe because of all the negativity surrounding the community? just a guess ... I believe they did the next best thing put it in the next town over and ADVERTISED Cape Winery, Stumpf and Lawrence farms and Breakers Restaurant to name a few and a lot of the vendors were people from the town trying to make some extra cash and who knows they might spend that cash in Cape Vincent and what businesses are open on Sunday in Cape Vincent that they were competing against? Nothing is open.... and the market brought people into Chaumont don't see that would hinder their businesses.... What this town needs is someone EDUCATED in business and that has maybe lived outside of this town to be in the chairs.... Just some thoughts ... Jennifer
