 Heerrrrrrre's Johnny!

  Johnny's back!.

John Droz, Jr., Washington lobbyist, real estate investor and hobby physicist, sneaked back in town and this time he is contacting Thousand Islands residents with a bogus email query fishing for attitudes about SASS.

What was Johnny's last PR debacle? Did he enlisted the good name of Mike Ringer, and encouraged him to draft a letter sent to selected members of the SASS Advisory Committee?  In the letter Ringer encourages advisory committee members to attend an upcoming meeting in Hammond and request immediate termination of SASS. No one showed! Ringer's letter, failed.

Why would John Droz, Jr. support using the good name of a well-known artist and local celebrity in a PR campaign against SASS, a program initiative that would among other things preserve the scenic beauty of the Thousand Islands?

"Employ a well-known spokesman with star credibility."

Mike Ringer's letter appears to mirror a PR strategy formulated by Droz for fighting wind energy (National PR Campaign Proposal marked CONFIDENTIAL, Edited by John Droz 1/23/2012)

Droz is known for lobby and advocacy activities that focus on creating fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD). Look for more FUD from Droz in his anti-SASS campaign of the Thousand Islands?

This is so stupid. Why is John Droz spending so much time and energy on this SASS thing? This is a designation. It is not a law. The worst it does is review a project. Big deal. None of this make sense. There has to be money involved. Somebody is figuring on making some big money if SASS goes down the tube. Nothing else makes sense. Why all the fuss over a silly designation?

9:50 You make a good point, but your point raises a question. If SASS is just a designation, without any regulatory clout, what is its value? How does it actually serve to preserve anything?

SASS review is noting more than an opinion. No permit is required. The clout in state regulation is meeting requirements to obtain a permit. If no permit required then no clout. SASS has no clout. Other agencies, that require permits, will make decisions on development. If you are afraid of SASS, you probably sleep with the lights on at night!

Droz is not on the scene to influence the local population. Town and village boards are all locals and they can manage local opinion. Droz is here to manage the summer, seasonal residents, who by the way, have the most to gain with a SASS designation (property value increase related to SASS). Droz is being paid for his work with the seasonal residents because the anti's "fear all we may do is to awaken a sleeping giant (seasonal residents) and fill him with a terrible resolve."

What is recognition worth?

"There are two things people want more than money Recognition and Praise"

"The Power of Recognition is one of the strongest forces for stimulating human and social action. Yes, Recognition is a powerful motivator--to those who receive it as well as those who observe it."

I think the Native Americans got it right when they called the thousand islands the home of the great spirit.

Interesting comments. I think you are right. Droz is getting paid. Why else would he be so involved? Then who is paying him for sowing doubt?

Who is paying John Droz??

Michael Ringer said...

I wrote and sent my own letter concerning SASS. John Droz is not a Washington lobbyist or real estate investor as you claim, and he most certainly is a degree holding Physicist. He was an invaluable resource for the residents of the TI communities in their effort to defeat the wind turbine industry. He dedicated 100's of hours of his time and never sought or received any compensation. His source of motivation comes solely from being a concerned citizen and wanting the best for the community. His agenda is very simple, it's called the TRUTH and it is always backed up with objective, endless research. Your entire derogatory blog about him is unkind, untrue and unsubstanciated.

Michael, you emphasized TRUTH in your comment, it must be important to you. However, in your letter you advised some advisory committee members to urge Hammond officials to terminate the SASS effort before the final report was released. If the TRUTH is so important to you, then why did you want to deny all of us the opportunity to see the report? Correct me if I am wrong, but you were totally absent from helping locals fight an Article 10 wind project in Cape Vincent, yet now you seem so intent on stopping a simple scenic designation. We don't get why an artist who derives his living painting the Thousand Islands would be so opposed to calling it beautiful and special?

I guess Ringer answered my question who is paying John Droz. Its him. Now another answer please. Why are you so determined to kill calling the Thousand Islands special and protecting it?

I couldn't figure out why anyone would be anti SASS. I figured they must have a big project in mind, but now I am thinking it may be for land speculation purposes.

Ringer if you admit to writing that letter to influence advisory members then I think you should spend time defending yourself rather than John Droz.

How can you condemn the SASS committee by proxy? You had no interaction with the committee, but found fault nevertheless. That sounds very Droz-like.

You asked members to attend a meeting in your stead to condemn and kill the SASS process based on what you had heard. Tell us who you talked with? Who told you the process was not open and objective?

Mr. Ringer start defending yourself because your letter was slanderous and I still believe Droz wrote it for you. Thankfully none of the advisory committee who received your or his letter took it seriously.

The Institute for Southern Studies reported that Droz is an adviser to NC-20, a group formed by local development interests that fears
"the financial impact of any limits on coastal development"

Every time I think of John Droz, a little vomit rises into my throat.

Droz is like a washed up rock star that does gigs at the county fair.

Micheal this is really below you.
Why would you support such drivel?
This is a real black mark on your record.
At least state your reasons, it seems like you were willing to support your friend with out thought.
Shameful, You are allowing yourself to be tainted with this brush of ignorance.

I would like John Droz to point to one thing he did to put the run on Acciona, BP, or Iberdola. One thing. I was in the trenches on those fights. I never saw him.
