Developer Bill Moore has resurrected the idea of building an industrial scale wind complex in the Town of Hounsfield on Galloo Island.
What does the Town of Hounsfield's Comprehensive plan say about renewable energy and wind in particular?

Were people in Hounsfield paying attention when this language was included in the town's comprehensive plan last year?
I mean the people who care anything at all about scenic preservation for themselves and their neighboring towns?
See what can happen when people don't pay attention? Seasonal residents, you who have such a huge investment in scenic preservation, see what can happen when you don't pay attention?
Seasonal residents of Henderson, Lyme, Brownville and Cape Vincent -- see what could happen in your town if you don't pay attention and if you don't register to vote in your town so you can play a part is choosing your town officials? Don't you think it would be smart of you to have a voice in selecting town officials? Are you content to have officials who are happy to collect inflated property taxes from you but who otherwise ignore you?
1203, hey you can't have your cake and eat it too. Seasonal residents indeed should pay attention to local issues and be a part of electing local officials. But if you own property in what you consider to be a highly scenic area,you're hardly justified in saying property taxes are inflated.
You know the motto in real estate- it's all about location, location ,location.

Fair enough. Just don't treat your high tax paying waterfront property owners like some kind of annoyance. Look out for them and make them feel welcome.

High tax-paying waterfront owners should be treated just like every other resident who has the right to voice their opinions via the ballot box. It is the choice of the resident/property owner whether or not he does so. You are 100% right that seasonal residents should be concerned about their investment,and become involved in electing local officials who understand the valuable contribution seasonals make to the regions economy and tax base. Locals who resent seasonal owners and attempt to disenfranchise them are shortsighted and foolish.
