Altamont Pass: Controversial wind turbine company blamed for bird deaths shutting down

LIVERMORE -- A wind power provider that operates about 800 turbines in the Altamont Pass -- where thousands of birds are believed killed by them each year -- is shutting down its operations.

Altamont Winds told the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service in an email Oct. 23 that it is ceasing operations as of Sunday.

Iberdrola confirms they remain interested in the Clayton Horse Creek Wind Farm!

  A story in this evenings online edition of the Watertown Daily Times confirms that Iberdrola is still interested in developing Clayton's Horse Creek Wind Farm

“We remain interested in the site,” Paul N. Copleman A spokesman for the developer said Thursday, although he could not say whether the project could soon be revived.

Additionally, Copleman also told the Times ~ The developer still has meteorological towers and land leases at the 9,450-acre Clayton site, he said, and the project remains actively listed on its website.
The project has not had official active status since April 2014, when it was removed by the developer from the New York Independent System Operator’s interconnection queue. Horsecreek Wind is still on the table Will Iberdrola be eating Clayton’s lunch?

The word on the Street is that Iberdrola may be interested in reviving their Horsecreek Wind project

This past April I did a post concerning Iberdrola and their interest in the local efforts to kill SASS.After checkingpublic property records in the Jefferson County Clerk's office and discovering that leaseholders in Clayton had renewed contracts with Iberdrola in 2013. I did a follow up post

Iberdrola’s Horse Creek Wind Farm is still in play.  

A story posted May 8, 2015 in The Watertown Daily Times confirmed  that Iberdrola remains interested in the project .

“We still have meteorological towers and land leases there, so we remain interested in that community,” Paul N. Copleman, spokesman for Iberdrola Renewables, said Tuesday in an email. “New York has a proven track record of successfully integrating new renewable energy sources, so we are generally optimistic.”

Additionally, the pro wind in Cape Vincent were anxious to kill SASS without letting on that they still have aspirations of big wind.

And Iberdrola was interested in the efforts to kill SASS.

Is this all just coincidental or something more ominous?
