VOTE FOR MICHELLE OSWALD

The following letter to the editor was published in the Watertown Daily Times today. This letter embodies the spirit of Michelle Oswald’s opponent and his supporters, highlighting the importance of this election. A vote for Michelle is a vote to protect the health, welfare and safety of our community.

The current town board is an embarrassment to Cape Vincent. They have failed us in so many ways through their self-serving, single issue-agenda.

They have made it a priority to generate and spread negativity through blogs, YouTube and local media. They passed zoning laws considered unreasonable, and therefore now have passed control of the siting process to be determined through Article X. They have tried at two consecutive meetings to change minutes from the previous meeting. The list goes on and on, but I think you get the message. Their drama has equaled trauma for Cape Vincent, and something needs to change.

We need someone who is going to question their antics, demand explanations, seek clarification and, most importantly, stand up for all the issues and all the residents of Cape Vincent. Please cast your vote for Paul Aubertine and start the process of restoring Cape Vincent to a place we can be proud to call home.

2654 The blogs brought us the truth about what the majority has perceived as a previous town government corrupted by wind and controlled by conflicts of interest. The video's, news accounts, and blogs have documented information.

That is why I have supported the

I guess they didn't expect little Appalachia to have educated people who use the internets and knowledge and stuff.

I would never vote for a candidate who would advocate for loss of home rule and other freedoms like making a comment on the blogs.

Only a lease holder or relative would write such a letter.

What a strange twist. For some time (6 years now) there has been a political upheaval in Cape Vincent, driven by the unethical abuses of power by our town boards, which has presented Cape Vincent in a most embarrassing public light.

In a culmination of the restruction of our government,on Oct. 23 our town board and planning boards stood shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors from Lyme, and denounced the proposals of British Petroleum to transform our community into an industrial energy complex. A proud moment to be sure.

Kitty White is suggesting in order to restore Cape Vincent to a place we can be proud to call home, we should return power to those who are responsible for the debauchery that opened the door to this predatory corporate invasion in the first place.

You're too late Kitty, the government we have now, inspite of a few bumps in the road, have already restored Cape Vincent's integrity in the political realm, and are determined to do exactly as you wish-make Cape Vincent a place we can be proud to call home.

Where was your indignation, when our previous government was trouncing citizens rights, engaging in unethical behaviour, and trashing local and state laws?

You have a bizarre concept of what constitutes pride in your community.

It is letters like this that embarrass the community. Thanks to the blogs, the news, the TV and the you tube the word got out. Please vote for Michelle Oswald and fight loss of democratic rights in our town.

Kitty You can't be serious. Paul is a great young man, but the conflict of interest speaks for itself.

I have NEVER seen Kitty or her husband Tim at a town meeting. But I have heard Darrell Aubertine refer Kitty to his grandchild as " Aunt Kitty".

Jeesus Kitty,Oct. 23 was the first time in about seven years that there was any solid reason to be proud to live in Cape Vincent again.

why in hell would we want to take such a huge step backwards, and elect Darrell(oops ,I meant paul)Aubertine?

Can you not possibly separate your biased family loyalty, from sensible logic. Times and people change.Greed and lust for control can turn even normally reasonable, small town local folks into the unprincipled power-abusers such as previously ruled this town.

If you truly want to restore Cape vincent's soul, let some new faces run the show, that won't run the town into the gutter chasing the almighty dollar.

Miss Kitty, if the State had proposed 124, 500 ft tall turbines for our town without the money for your relatives, but as an eminent domain offensive, would you be singing the same tune about our current town officials? I can only imagine you would be singing their praises and thanking all who could read your letter about their valiant efforts to stop the take-over of the Cape by sinister big government interests. So, you see Miss Kitty, you and the others who are so appalled at the current leadership are really appalled at the thought of losing your golden goose. It's all about the money.

Many of the people who support Bp and the loss of home rule have never attended the meetings or been involved in the process. They have learned by rumor and believe false charges made against blogger and media information.

Such is the case with the Cape Dem running for TB. He has not a clue of what has gone on and how badly the pro wind in CV have behaved.

I think what DA and his friends have brought us are the worse times ever for our town. They sold us out an now they blame it on the blogs.Greed, Greed, Greed...

Here is an embarrassing reminder of what you might get if you vote for Paul Aubertine...an endorsement of bad ethics?

Cape Vincent Town Board Members
P.O. Box 680

Re: Abstaining from Voting on the Location of
wind Turbines in Cape Vincent.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I regret that I was unable to attend the public hearing held on June 3rd. at which time the above referenced subject was discussed and I appreciate the opportunity to share my thought with you now.

Specifically, I would like to comment about the issue of whether a board member should abstain from voting on an issue. As elected representatives, we are responsible to make decisions for the benefit of our constituents and community. This project, which affects thousands of acres and dozens of property owners, has the potential to positively affect every resident. Whether through a reduced property tax rate or new economic opportunities, Messrs. Wood, and (2) Masons (three members with wind contracts) will certainly not be the sole beneficiaries should the project move forward.

While some may feel that these elected officials should abstain from voting on this matter-my belief is that they should not. If they are restrained from voting in this instance, then shouldn't the community decide now what the guiding principle will be for future abstention in different matters and with different representatives? i.e. voting on a tax rate that affects their personal property.

Healthy and positive discourse is mandatory in a democracy; however, governing by referendum is unwise. After careful reflection, I feel that it is ethically proper that in this case all board members should vote on the issue at hand. In fact, I believe it is their responsibility to do so.

Sincerely,
Darrel J. Aubertine.

When DA wrote that "some may feel these elected officials should abstain from voting on this matter", I guess he had no idea just how many objected. Must be he thought it was only a handful of folks.

Maybe next time he'll count the opposition first, before he makes such a stupid blunder.

Pretty serious charges.

11:40"Healthy and positive discourse is mandatory in a democracy;"

I'm guessing R Edsall was the inspiration for this declaration by Darrell.

Who would be a better model to exemplify this principle of democracy?

Maybe his son Paul? !!
