Developer drops claim wind turbines do not hit house prices
A wind farm developer has withdrawn a leaflet
claiming wind turbines do not affect house prices following a complaint to the
Advertising Standards Authority.
The move follows an objection from an
anti–wind farm campaigner who complained about material handed out by Wind Prospect
Developments Ltd at an exhibition on a proposed 12–turbine development in
Midlothian, Scotland.
The leaflet, produced by the industry
trade body Renewable UK, claimed that it was a "myth" that wind farms
reduced the value of nearby houses. . Continue reading via this link

What the Acciona /BP brochure has to say about
Property values
A comprehensive report on the impact of wind power projects on residents property values was completed by the Ernest Orlando Lawrence Berkeley national laboratory and was funded by the US Department of energy. In this report "the impact of wind power projects on residential property values in the United States: a Multi-– Site Hedonic Analysis"the researchers looked at almost 7500 single-family home sales collected from 10 study area surrounding 24 when facilities across to you. S. And determined that there is no statistical significant affect on home sales prices. It should be noted that the study was reviewed and awarded a prize for "Best Paper"in 2010 by American Real Estate Society(ARES)
The following are excerpts from the study:
this report has investigated the potential impacts of wind power facilities on the sales prices of residential properties that are in proximity to and/or that have a view of those wind facilities. It builds and improves on the previous literature that has investigated these potential effects by collecting a large quantity of residential transaction data from communities surrounding a wide variety of wind power facilities, spread across alterable parts of the U. S. Each of the homes included in this analysis was visited to clearly determine the degree to which the wind facility was visible at the time of home sale and to collect other essential data. The result is the most comprehensive and data – rich analysis to date on the potential impacts of wind projects on nearby property sales.

After completing his review of the subject location, McCann found that numerous homes in the Cape Vincent area will be adversely impacted, and the best available evidence indicates that value loss of 25% to 40% or more will occur to homes within approximately 2 miles of the turbines. This impact is not expected to be uniform, and some losses may well be lower and others higher.
