Americans for Prosperity is leading a huge coalition of 64 organizations to express strong opposition to extending the federal Wind Production Tax Credit.
The Senate Finance Committee recently passed a measure that would renew and dramatically expand several targeted tax credits for renewable energy, including wind power.
The Production Tax Credit (PTC) was enacted by Congress in 1992 as a temporary measure to beef up the wind industry, and is nothing more than a welfare program and it should be allowed to expire . For example between the years 2009 and 1213 wind subsidies will have cost American tax payer s $14 Billion and 6 Billion of these alone are from the Production Tax Credit .
