Iowa View
Hardworking Iowans didn’t elect our members of Congress to enact policies that distort the energy market — but that’s exactly what Congress is about to do. The main federal support for wind energy is scheduled to expire at the end of 2012, but there is a proposal in Congress to extend it. Iowa’s own Sen. Chuck Grassley added language to a bill coming out of the Senate Finance Committee that would extend and dramatically expand the wind production tax credit.
Republicans try to paint the picture that they are the party of limited government and fiscal restraint, but many of their policies do exactly the opposite. Grassley’s long-time support for wind energy incentives is a prime example. Extending the production tax credit would cost taxpayers $12 billion in 2013 alone.

How about considering the local effect of the Production Tax Credit - it ain't all state and federal you know.
If all it takes is the promise of several thousand per year for a Cape leaseholder to screw their neighbor (of course Marion says there are no wind problems so no one is getting screwed), then what would it take for leasheholders to PIMP their mamas? How much more to throw mom, dad, sis and the kid brother under the bus for the promise of riches?
If you think this is idiotic, what about family members who get into squabbles divvying-up pop's estate after he goes up to meet his maker. Remarkably, this happens all the time. It's as common as a horny toad. Therefore, it is not unrealistic to suggest that what has happened in Cape Vincent neighbor to neighbor could happen to families, if the payback was large enough or family relations poor enough. All in all, it is a sad commentary on the human condition, but nothing unique to Cape Vincent.
