BP's Profit Versus Our Health & Welfare

Richard Chandler, Director of Development for BP’s Cape Vincent Wind project informed the town that our amended zoning Law would effectively prohibit wind generation from being sited within the Town.  Chandler wrote the requirements, setback provisions, exclusion areas, and noise standards contained within the Proposed Zoning Law are highly restrictive and should be substantiated by realistic and credible studies, consistent with other operational wind projects, and in line with industry standards.

Chandler  discredits our zoning law by saying that the only realistic and credible studies are in line with wind industry standards.
In other words he is suggesting that our zoning law should have been written using standards developed to maximize BP”s profit, and not to protect our community.

Does Chandler think that our health and welfare is negotiable? In BP's Public Involvement Program (PIP) submitted to the Public Service Commission (PSC) as  part of the Article 10 process ,Chandler wrote that he  intends to consult or reach out to the Towns of Cape Vincent Lyme to review local laws and ordinances that the board could elect not to apply. [1]

Will he be offering an incentive in return for not applying certain ordinances?

Yours is the kind of case that should be pushed to the courts. Easy for me to say, but you are the one being sued. Consider.
Two plaintiffs claim the bloggers deprived them of public office. They held wind leases while serving in public office and did some mighty strange things supporting wind. They publicly said the AG code of wind ethics was a waste of time. We see a lot of documentation of these strange things in your community documents. They also were seen on a video declaring that no town business was discussed at an illegal planning commission meeting. That has been disputed with evidence.
Both of those former town official plaintiffs voted yes on a town voter ID resolution that was declared by the New York State Attorney General to be illegal. It was repealed, but they still voted no on the repeal. There was a petition that involved and was signed by other plaintiffs. That petition claimed there was voter fraud going on in the town. They got a lot of pro wind people to sign it as leaseholders. But according to your Jefferson County Board of Elections there was not voter fraud and it is believed that several of the plaintiffs were told that by the BOE. The purpose of all this seemed to many to be to prevent people from voting against them and intimidate them and disenfranchise others who might vote against them and oppose wind. This blogger case is being followed very carefully nationally and by the legal profession. It involves plaintiffs who are all very active and public in the support of Bp's industrial wind project. The defense it is well worth supporting and should go to the courts so the public can hear what the witnesses from the community have to say about the plaintiff's activities.
Just my opinion, of course.Of course it is up to the plaintiffs and the defendants as to how far they want to go to expose their stories behind this very contentious community issue. But those claims by the plaintiffs goes to the heart of our freedoms of speech and involves a very large corporation who wants to overrule our local laws. And, Bp are being supported in that effort by the people who are suing the bloggers. I see this as well worth fighting to the end. But realistically, if I were Bp, I would make it go away and pay for the bloggers legal fees and concentrate on trying to convince the public how wonderful their project really is.
If I were a national news organization or an internet blogger provider I would jump in and support the bloggers right to the supreme court if necessary. I would also take action against those who appeared to be attempting to rig the voter system in your town.
An important fight that benefits all in a free country and world.

" Will he be offering an incentive"

Pandy, is your polite way of asking if Chandler is coming here to offer us a bribe?

Tch,tch,tch. You are so sassy!

You can bet that is exactly what Chandler is coming here to do. It will be very interesting to see how our board reacts.

Maybe the board will continue to assist BP is polishing up their PIP for article X. Make some more suggestions so BP can gain the community's trust as the town suggested in their letter to the PSC.

I have been blessed with an epiphany. God has provided us with a message, if only we open our eyes to see it. Like the holy trinity itself, the three bladed wind turbines offer the promise of the worlds salvation. We can reverse the damage we have inflicted on Gods gift to us (our earth) if we shroud the planet with these machines made by man, in the image of the holy mystery he himself created for us,the Father ,the Son, and The Holy Ghost.

Lets cease the quarreling, and act as Gods children.
