The Problem in Cape Vincent is outsiders

In this clip from the Cape Vincent Town Board meeting 12/20/12, A Cape Vincent resident  states that there is an issue with the new zoning law.

"There are problems that the organizers of the committee were not aware of and one of the problems was that the committee was made up primarily of let me use the word-- outsiders."

DUH - how much time will it take for the insiders to realize that times change and people change and that the majority of the voters and businesses in Cape Vincent are "outsiders". As Obama often reminds his opponents, we (in our case we means "outsiders") won. Get over it because you will not change it. A business owner (an "outsider" by the way) was asked to be on the zoning committee. That person decided against it. Why, because you insiders would boycott that persons business (just like you did to Waldroff Equipment Co.) if the committee did not do what you expected. All that Cape Vincent was is being defended by "outsiders". Why, because the vast majority of insiders are just not interested or energetic enough to get off their asses and get the job done. Unless, of course, something like wind turbines comes along. Then the insiders come to life. "Outsiders" are trying to do exactly what insiders want - keep the Cape a good place to live and raise a family. By the way, the vast majority of insiders are opposed to big wind - they just don't talk about it in public becasue they fear the wrath of the few (probably as few as 20) backward-thinkers that control the minds and the lives of the majority of insiders. Get over it - it will not change.

Mrs. Stumpt must be confused - the zoning law public hearings were in August. It is curious why she is still commenting on the makeup of the zoning committee. She obviously is the spiritual leader of the Voters for Wind, and shows no reluctance to display her (and their) disdain for anyone in Cape Vincent who isn't 3rd or 4th generation locally grown and raised.

Are the VFW suddenly not so confident that the ART. X siting board will over-rule our zoning law? Why else would they resort to attacking the integrity of that law?

Strange comments indeed at this juncture.

The voters for wind made a decision to boycott the zoning committee meetings. It is obvious that the VFW was advised to ignore the process (the old insider/outsider strategy). When the day comes that the former town rulers (all 5 of them) take their town and political control back and when the day comes that the comprehensive plan and the zoning law are returned to their former useless state, then, your insider/ "outsider" mentality would prevail. Living in the past is a thing of the past. Forget it!

Last winter/spring EVERY citizen in Cape Vincent was provided the opportunity to volunteer for both the Comprehensive Review Plan and the Zoning Law Committee. To my knowledge none of the so called "insiders" (the opposite of Mrs. Stump's outsiders otherwise known as prowind) volunteered to be on the committees. In addition, every single meeting was announced and open to the public. Did they attend any meetings? Not to my knowledge. So now.....they complain about the makeup of the committee and what they did wrong?

Mrs. Stump....your only goal could be to continue to split the community. You are doing a very good job at that!

"anyone in Cape Vincent who isn't 3rd or 4th generation locally grown and raised."

Not true. Marian Trieste and Richard Chandler are outsiders and voters for wind and they are lovely people.

When she says "outsiders" she means the people that have had NO contact with BP, not because the "outsiders" wanted it that way, thats the way the "insiders" and BP wanted it.

The "insiders" and BP have, most likely, had plenty of secret contact. This, more then anything else has created the us against them, or as she put it "outsiders" versus "insiders"
