New: Blade falls from windmill; facility shuts down

This story is an example of why BP's setbacks do not adequately protect our community

PORTAGE — A large portion of one of the blades on a windmill in the Allegheny Ridge Wind Farm blew off sometime over the weekend forcing the facility to shut down.

A spokesman for the farm’s owner Infigen Energy, based in Dallas, said this afternoon that the reason for the blade to fall has yet to be determined, but experts will be on the scene over the next few days to look for a cause.
