Home rule in wind

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2013
To The Editor:
Re: “Nonprofits: localities should have say on turbines” - 1/25/13: “Spanish energy giant Iberdrola recently decided to pull out of Hammond, citing uncertainty in both the energy market and federal regulations regarding wind development.”
It’s good to see the Thousand Islands Land Trust taking the lead in expressing concerns to the Article X Siting Board. It’s also encouraging to hear Save The River publicly reiterate its stand for a comprehensive overview of the impacts of multiple wind projects along the river and to hear the 1000 Islands International Tourism Council support home rule and local jurisdictions taking precedent in siting these projects. I profoundly hope that both of these institutions will follow TILT’s lead and contact the Article X Siting Board (secretary@dps.ny.gov) to express their stated concerns to that body. I profoundly hope that anyone of these three institutions will contact the Governors office ,and the New York legislature to oppose the imposition of Art. X on New York communities. It is fruitless to keep expressing dissatisfaction to the PSC. They simply represent the "paid off" referees officiating the crooked game for the corrupted commissioner using the corrupted rules. We'll never get the referees to call a fair game.
