Renewable energy companies awaiting payment under the stimulus-funded clean energy grant program will receive smaller checks because of newly implemented across-the-board budget cuts, the Treasury Department said today.
In a sequestration message posted to its website , Treasury says grants from the so-called 1603 program will be cut by 8.7 percent to comply with "sequestration," which went into effect Friday. That includes grants for which applications were filed ahead of the March 1 sequestration deadline but that are still being processed, Treasury said, but earlier awards will not be affected.
