Brazil ~ Prisoners put the pedal to the metal to shorten their time behind bars.

Inmates in Brazil's Santa Rita do Sapucai prison can now put the pedal to the

metal to shorten their time behind bars.

The city’s judge has instated a policy that rewards prisoners for generating

energy by riding stationery bikes, according to a report in the Jornal Nacional.

Prisoners can knock a day off their sentences for every 16 hours they pedal.

Con-energy, what a great idea!

Why not do that at the Cape vincent correctional facility(jail)?

No doubt those prisoners could generate as much power as the unreliable, intermittent, turbines that BP and Andrew Cuomo want to put in the Cape.

Nobody gets hurt, nobody gets sick, no loss of property value, no ruining the character of the 1000 Islands,

Not only that, this would represent a great way for inmates to give back to society and gain some self-esteem.

a win-win for everyone, except of course BP and all of Bud Constance's leaseholder pals.

Yeah! Don't forget what ConPower has over wind power - it is 24-7 power. This type of power could be added to 'baseline' production. This is the kind of power that could be used to backup wind when it wasn't producing, which is two-thirds of the time. All that is needed is to schedule these inmates in such a way that there is always somebody on the bike! Furthermore, I'd give the inmates one-half of what Corrections would be getting for the power's production. This would give added incentive to inmates - they could be making some real money. I can hear them now, "The hell with the weight room, give me that GD bike!"

Good idea Pandy, its about time someone came up with some reasonable solutions to our energy dilemma in New York.
