According
to a story in the New York Times ,wind
industry executives are saying that developers are unlikely to
start any projects without the Production Tax Credit (P.T.C.)
because without it they cannot compete with other energy sources.
The
Times is also reporting that Kevin
A. Lynch, managing director of external affairs at Iberdrola
Renewables, said: “In the near term, projects that do not
have the P.T.C. attached to them are probably difficult to justify
economically for buyers to purchase, and therefore for us to build.”
Are Lynch and the
other executives referred to in this article saying that
projects like Iberdrola's Horse Creek and BP's Cape Vincent
Wind Farm doomed to extinction without the P.T.C?
