The town of Cape Vincent, in Jefferson County, has been divided over a proposed wind farm for a decade. The latest company to pursue the project is BP. But now, with a potential sale in the works, residents told the state power project siting board they’re getting impatient with the uncertainty.
The meeting Monday night was subdued compared to past ones. The idea was to get everyone on the same page about the project’s status. It is time to give it up and shut it down. The community has lost too much already. Also for the Democrats and Citizens for Fair Government to continue to harass the town officials and community members who have turned out to be on the right side of the issue will do us all no good. Leave the town to do its job and in future elections let us take the high road and not go through this all again.
