Can you believe it?
A small band of over –the-hill
misfits beat the fourth largest corporation in the world and saved
their town. Congratulations to all my readers and all those people
who have supported and commented on issues related to wind
development and wind corruption. February 26 will long be remembered
as the date in our history where the redcoats were sent packing the third time in 250 years!
Thank you all!

A day we have long been waiting for. Take proper satisfaction in it.
It is a shame that so much time and effort has been required to fight something so ill-conceived and boneheaded.
An enormous debt of gratitude is due to those who shouldered this fight with unflinching determination. You know who you are and you have every right to take just satisfaction in a job well done.
But I have to say this. There are others – some who were in positions of considerable influence, who could have short-circuited this ill-conceived project at a much earlier stage if they had used their influence to good advantage.
It is a pity that some stood back as observers, hoping for the best, but not wanting to be directly engaged..
Some were worried about being bullied or even financially harmed by the leaseholders. Some were afraid of being labeled as "anti-green." Maybe some were reluctant to get crosswise with relatives or friends who had a stake in the project.
I hope, looking back, that those who stayed back because of these and other concerns will resolve to make more effort in the future to be more forward leaning stewards of the Thousand Islands.
"What's wrong with a couple turbines on someone's property?"
There must be something wrong because the dems and cfg and Voters for Wind did a SLAPP on the community, tried to take away the right to vote on a PILOT, tried to take away rights to vote at the polls, sent letters, to assessors, called people names on the streets and in bars, put red signs of hate all over the community and claimed that legal voters and the Board of Elections committed fraud. Oh and that night a the bp open house? All that and more, and King did still not get turbines on his wife's land.
You and your next generations can pout and get even for the rest of your lives if you want, King et al. But the Cape is going to get over it and move on.
