Cuomo’s Green New Deal Paddles Offshore

Clifford Schneider, a retired biologist who worked at the New York Department of Environmental Conservation for 34 years, has been leading the fight against the Galloo project. In a phone interview, he told me that Apex knew that eagles had nested on the island but didn’t disclose that information to state regulators. “How do you trust a company that has supplied false and inaccurate statements to the state?” Continue reading via this link to City Journal

Another Voice: Adirondack Mountain Club chapter supports Lighthouse Wind

Not long ago the Sierra club came out in support of Apex Clean Energy
and their ill conceived Lighthouse wind project.
They were quickly admonished for supporting Lighthouse
wind without doing any research into the impacts of the project
The  Characterization of the Buffalo News story as another voice
is deceptive .
The Author Larry Beahan is identified as secretary
of the Adirondack Mountain Club Niagara Frontier Chapter.
What Larry fails to mention in his testimony of support for lighthouse wind
is that he is an executive committee member of the Sierra Club as well as
the Conservation Chairperson, Habitat Chair and
 Atlantic Chapter group Alternate Delegate.

No, this  is not another voice just the same old voice hiding behind a different title.

Unlike the other IDAs we reviewed, Jefferson County IDA’s fiscal year is from October 1 through September 30. In October 2015 Jefferson County IDA approved financial assistance for Aviagen North America, Inc. (Aviagen) to renovate an existing building. On December 18, 2015, the IDA issued Aviagen an ST-60 for $69,750 in sales tax exemptions through December 2016. For 2015-16, Aviagen reported to Jefferson County IDA that it claimed $69,750 in sales tax exemptions. Aviagen then reported to the IDA that it claimed $9,938 for 2016-17, for a total of $79,688 in sales tax exemptions. This exceeds the amount of sales tax exemptions approved by the Jefferson County IDA board by $9,938. As a result of our review, Jefferson County IDA contacted Aviagen, who indicated that the $9,938 reported for 2016-17 was in error.

Clear Skies Above Barre asks attorney general to investigate its allegations of ethical misconduct by Heritage Wind

The Antithesis of Green

Or look at New York, which has a renewable-energy mandate of 50 percent by 2030. But three upstate counties — Erie, Orleans, and Niagara — as well as the towns of Yates and Somerset, are actively fighting a proposed 200-megawatt project called Lighthouse Wind, which aims to put dozens of turbines on the shores of Lake Ontario. The same developer that is pushing Lighthouse Wind, Virginia-based Apex Clean Energy, is also facing fierce resistance on another project in New York that aims to put 109 megawatts of wind capacity on Galloo Island, which sits off the eastern shore of Lake Ontario. In its application to the state for a permit, Apex neglected to report that bald eagles have been nesting on Galloo Island. The company’s permit for that project is now in jeopardy

The New York State Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter in support of incidental take permits for construction and operation of industrial wind turbine projects in New York State also a hired expert by the name of Hans Hyde from Lockport, paid by Heritage Wind LLC/Apex Clean Energy is also a supporter of incidental take permits to kill endangered, threatened, migratory, and state and federal protected birds a year without being prosecuted in a court of law. That’s the kind of green energy we need in our area.
I live in the town of Barre. we are between two Great Lakes, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Wet lands and a wildlife preserve in the town of Alabama. Also, this is the North Atlantic fly-way for migratory birds every fall and spring.
Here are the two permits needed in the State of New York, permit number one, 6nycrr part 182 and permit number two, ecl article 11-0535.
