Nov 2008, Just three days after Barack Obama was elected, British Petroleum announced that they were going to focus on the US renewable energy market. We were ripe for the picking. Our Government’s Wall Street bailout extended the tax credits for renewable energy, and Obama pledged to invest 150$ billion in alternative energy .
Now that the Wind Welfare production tax credit has not been extended will British Petroleum pack up and leave or are they going to take their chances on relaxed campaign financing rules to bring their influence to bear?

Workers from some of the country’s largest oil, gas and electric utility companies — including Exxon Mobil, BP and Exelon — have given $772,000 to Obama’s campaign through mid-April, according to donation data for this election cycle compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics.
