"Eleven men died almost immediately in the horrific explosion that the blowout caused on the Deepwater Horizon, the giat rig that BP was leasing to drill its well a mile below the surface of the ocean; eleven families, including a number of very young children, had their lived irrevocably altered by the loss of their loved ones", writes Managing Editor at the National Journal, Mike Magner, in his powerful and thought provoking book Poisoned Legacy: The Human Cost of BP's Rise to Power. The author describes how BP (British Petroleum) failed to live up to its promises as both an environmentally conscious and a safety oriented company, resulting in the catastrophic explosion in the Gulf of Mexico, and other previous environmental disasters as well.
Mike Magner recognizes the importance of the petroleum industry to both the American economy and the nation's way of life. Because of this dependence on oil and gas, the author considers it crucial that the general public fully understand how petroleum is produced, and how the environment is affected by the industry and its participants. Mike Magner raises awareness of what can go horribly wrong if care and responsibility are not taken in the production, transport, and refining of this crucial resource. The author focuses his attention on the green message put out by BP, and the original intention of bein
an environmentally friendly company.

Now we are expected to believe Bee Pee when they tell us noise is not a problem, it won't affect our property values and there are no health issues.
Folks, this is Bee Pee who wants to take over CV and has the green shirts licking their boots.
Funny you should post this review. I am about half-way through reading this book. Chapter three is titled the Three Pigs and it reveals BP's unethical, immoral and illegal behavior in response to the 2005 Texas City refinery disaster.
Although British Petroleum underwent a New York City advertising makeover in 2000, they didn't make over the culture. The company is known for cutting people, material and costs in order to pass the maximum profit on to shareholders.
They have a terrible corporate reputation for ignoring safety, they consider litigation an operating expense.
This issue of BP's irresponsible social conscience and their lack of concern for safety based on actions not words, should be up front and highlighted as we move forward with Article 10. Be reminded that our zoning law was designed to protect the health, safety and general welfare of our public and BP will be very soon coming to Cape Vincent to trash our protective law.
We don't need a company who may have the worst safety and environmental record of any corporation operating in America to come to our town and try to take away our health and safety protections.
I think everyone in Cape Vincent should read the terrible tale of corporate neglect outlined in the POISONED LEGACY. If BP intends to become an intimate neighbor for all of us (124, 500 ft tall turbines) then we should all know who that neighbor really is, and don't be confused about silly little yellow flower. BP is not a harmless little wind company, they are far, far from what their logo represents.
